Strategic Partnership KA2 “Intercultural Schools”

“Intercultural Schools” is a strategic partnership project funded by the European Commission under Erasmus+ framework and reunites 3 schools and 3 non-governmental non-profit organisations from Romania, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The aim of the project is to tackle a common problem identified at all three partners’ communities, which is the low level of intercultural understanding and awareness competences among the pupils from the three partner schools. Moreover, this project also addresses the need of the teachers from the three schools to increase their capacities to organize integrative and participative nonformal activities that would contribute to an increased level of intercultural understanding and awareness competences among the pupils from the partner schools.

Complementary, the project aims to create a synergy between the youth workers in the three partner Youth NGOs and the teachers from the three partner schools in order to organize future nonformal activities for intercultural understanding both in the formal and non-formal education setting.

In the first year of the project took place three short term joint staff training events which consisted in two job shadowing and a training course that involved teachers and youth workers from the 6 partner organisations.

The first mobility involved 3 teachers from each school that came to our organisation in Bilbor, for 14 days. The main idea of this activity was to create a synergy among 9 teachers from the three partner schools and Young Europe Society in order to create a framework for future collaboration on enhancing intercultural understanding competences to young people. Were used formal and non-formal learning methods in order to see how education is viewed from 2 different perspectives.

For the second activity 3 youth workers from each partner youth NGO came to the local school Scoala Gimnaziala”O.C.Taslauanu” in Bilbor, for 14 days. The main idea of this activity was to create a synergy among the 9 youth workers and the partner school from Bilbor in order to create a framework for future collaboration on enhancing intercultural understanding competences to young people. They used formal and non-formal learning methods in order to see how education is viewed from 2 different perspectives.

The third activity of the project took place in Bilbor, Romania and it involved 18 teachers and 9 youth workers from the 6 partner organisations. They got together in order to build a bridge of intercultural understanding between formal and non-formal education. This TC brought together 27 youth workers and teachers who were interested in developing their competences in the field of interculturality, getting to know both formal and non-formal ways of teaching the young people they deal with.
